The Areosa Windmills

The village of Areosa has four windmills which were used to grind the corn harvested in the lowland of Areosa into flour. Some of these mills are located next to the Ecovia do Litoral North (bike path) and have been renovated. They are a reminder of the economic importance that these played in a not too distant past. There are also dozens of watermills along the Ribeiro do Pêgo, some of which have also been restored to their former glory.
