Mixed forest with native deciduous trees

The native forest of the Serra de Agra slops included deciduous trees such as oak, hazel and birch. These were the species that dominated the surrounding landscape of our trail at the peak of growth, about eight thousand years ago. Small patches of Portuguese-Galician oak may be found on the top part of Serra de Agra. During our trail other genus of oak trees may be found forming niches of biodiversity that afford greater beauty and diversity to the landscape.
