Portuzelo Castle

This is a small Romantic style house with Gothic revival and Manueline revival elements featuring castellated features and a central tower which stands out. It was built in 1853 by António Pereira da Cunha, about 500 meters from the Lima River.

An ancient manor house with a tower actually existed in the same location and was the “cabeça do couto” (central location of a land with special privileges) since the 13th century in Portuzelo. It has been classified as a Special Interest Property since 1977.
